How these calculators work
Each building calculator works from the same UK standards a merchant or building inspector would expect. Mortar quantities use BS EN 998-2 mix designations rather than a generic ratio; concrete gives you ready-mix versus bagged with embodied carbon and reinforcement mesh; and roof tiles are worked from pitch, ridge and valley rather than flat area. Wastage and VAT are adjustable on every tool so the figure matches a real order, not a textbook one.
